Japan Supports School Building, Transport Vehicle Project Implemented by Local Secondary School in District Matiari, Sindh

 
The Government of Japan officially handed over newly constructed classrooms, science laboratory facilities, and a student transport vehicle to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto High School in Village Khandu, District Matiari, under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Programme.

The handover ceremony was attended by Consul General of Japan in Karachi, HATTORI Masaru, school representatives, local officials, teachers, students, and community members.

Since 2016, the school has been providing free education to students in Grades 6 to 10. However, limited classroom space, inadequate science facilities, and insufficient transport capacity have posed challenges to the delivery of quality education, particularly for female students.

Through this project, Japan has provided three classrooms, forty-four pieces of science laboratory equipment and furniture, and one transport vehicle. The project will help improve the learning environment, expand access to education, and provide safer transportation for students, especially girls.

Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General HATTORI expressed his hope that the project would enhance educational opportunities for local children and encourage more students, particularly female students, to pursue science-related studies.

The Government of Japan has already implemented more than 400 projects across Pakistan and remains committed to supporting education, healthcare, and other community development initiatives throughout the country. Through the GGP Programme, Japan will continue to work with local partners to improve human security and promote sustainable development in underserved communities.
