The Japan Consulate at Karachi is inviting applications for a full-time position as a Security Guard on an initial one-year contract (three month probation period included).
The contract term will be renewable up to a maximum of two years.



 

Job Description

A Security Guard needs to respond to changes in their environment, which includes actions such as traffic movement, ensuring the safety of persons between and within locations, monitoring and managing the access and departure of persons and vehicles and observing and monitoring people. This may involve but is not limited to:
  • Remain in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Ensuring premises and property are protected in an appropriate and effective manner against a variety of natural and man-made threats.
  • Preventing, detecting and reacting appropriately to the commission of criminal actions on or against the property of the consulate.
  • Detaining someone who has committed a criminal offence, security is expected to supplement the efforts of police by securing crime scenes until the police arrive.
  • Providing leadership and direction in emergencies and assisting emergency personnel in times of Crisis, e.g. Directing fire fighters to the easiest/best way to get to the scene of the fire.
  • Controlling access to a site, including monitoring entrance & gate passage, escorting people or valuables and inspecting bags
  • Controlling or restoring order to a crowd and if the situation escalates, he may contact the police
  • Manage all sort of patrolling activity i.e., foot/vehicle/surveillance
  • Security Guard may be required to observe and record who enters and exits the consulate
  • Make sure the staff does not leave the office with things like computers, computer disks, and briefcases full of materials
  • He may be called upon to ensure traffic safety and to assist in the movement of vehicles
  • Be aware of the signs of substance abuse in order to deal with these individuals in a manner that will ensure personal safety as well as that of the suspect
  • Preventing work accidents by being aware of potential dangers, reporting safety hazards and following directions to minimize the risk posed to others
  • Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

Requirements

To be eligible the following qualifications and competences are required:
  • Physically fit ex-Armed Forces officer or equivalent and physically fit civilian who have some experiences in the security field.
  • Officers on LPR (leave preparatory to retirement) are also eligible to apply
  • Demonstrated and proven track record of security & surveillance duties during the service
  • Prior experience in the role of provost and/or intelligence assignments of key point(s)/ security of sensitive/military installation(s) will be preferred
  • officers having qualified PSC/ISC/LSC equivalent or higher qualification shall be given preference
  • Anti-Terrorist/Security related training/ course(s) will be an added advantage.
  • Officers retired from armed forces on discipline/inefficiency/medical grounds are not eligible to apply
  • Age: Maximum 40 years as on the last date of submission of application.
  • Medical: The candidate should be medically and physically fit with no disability.

  • Previous relevant working experience.

  • A high level of administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • A flexible attitude, good judgment and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • The ability to work well under pressure while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A high level of discretion, commitment and reliability.
  • effective teamwork and communication skills (including ability to manage team and mediate problems)
Starting monthly salary: 70,000 (based on your experiences etc.)
 
Working hours per week: 0730~1930 (Double Shift)
                                           One day off every Week
