Self-Defense Workshop 2019 held at Japanese Consulate

Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi in collaboration with Pakistan Marital Arts Association (PMAA) organized a “Self-Defense Workshop” from April 8 to 11, 2019, at Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC).
The purpose of the workshop was to raise participants’ awareness of self-defense against street violence. Around 150 students from various educational institutions participated in the workshop and practiced a number of moves and forms of martial arts.
The four-day event concluded with certificate distribution conducted by Deputy Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, Mr. Katsunori Ashida. While sharing his concerns about street crime situation in Karachi, Mr. Ashida hoped that the participants of this four-day workshop learned something that will help them feel confident and be able to defend themselves in dangerous situations though he advised participants to make safety their first priority in such situations before taking any action.
