''Handover ceremony of the “Project for the Improvement of Special Education School for Deaf in Rashidabad''
On 15 October 2018, the Handover Ceremony for ''The Project for the Improvement of Special Education School for Deaf in Rashidabad''; was held in the presence of His Excellency, Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, Mr. Toshikazu Isomura and Indus Motor Company (IMC) Senior Executive Coordinator Mr. Kenji Sotowa.The Government of Japan extended a grant of US$ 77, 476 to Family Education Services Foundation in Rashidabad, under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme. The Grant covers the cost of two school vans for the children, and equipment for bakery where the students will be vocationally trained. Moreover, under this initiative IMC has tendered vehicle maintenance for one year complemented by seat additions and vehicle beautification.
FESF is the NGO which has been providing welfare services to children with special needs. With the implementation of this project, it is expected that improved quality of life will be given to the young children, in Rashidabad. This project was implemented in the form of Public-Private Partnership between the Consulate-General of Japan and IMC.
Speaking at the occasion, Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, Mr. Isomura hoped that this project would help to provide adequate assistive services to the needy and that they can have better facilities in the future. He wished that this support from the people of Japan would further strengthen friendly relationship between Japan and Pakistan.
Under the GGP Scheme, Japan has funded more than 380 projects in Pakistan since 1989.
