Japan Provides US$66,500 For The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment for Al Mustafa Medical Centre in Karachi

 

 
The Government of Japan extended a grant of US$66,500 to Al-Mustafa Welfare Society for “The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment for Al Mustafa Medical Centre in Karachi”, under the scheme of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
The signing ceremony was held at Consul General’s Official Residence, with the presence of Mr. Kazuo Tsukada, Acting Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, Mr. Haji Muhammad Hanif Tayyab, Chairman, Al-Mustafa Welfare Society and Mr. Jameel Hussain, managing director of Fujifilm Pakistan Ltd.

In order to achieve its objective to provide low cost quality healthcare to the underprivileged population of the area. The Grant will be utilized for the provision of two medical equipment; X-Ray Machine, Flat Panel Detector (DR) and Laser Printer so that the situation of healthcare in the city can be improved and the people can get access to basic health facilities.

Speaking at the occasion, the Acting Consul-General stated that strengthening the quality of healthcare is one of priority areas of Japanese assistance for Pakistan. The quality of basic healthcare is important and necessary. Mr. Haji Muhammad Hanif Tayyab, Chairman, Al-Mustafa Welfare Society, in his remarks, appreciated the initiatives taken by the Consulate General of Japan in Karachi for the improvement of social sector in Karachi. In 2010, the Consulate General of Japan has provided a grant for an Operation Theatre Equipment and a Gas Generator to Al-Mustafa Medical Centre in Karachi through GGP. Since the implementation of the project, these equipment have served for more than 13,500 people to get better medical treatments in the city.

Mr. Jameel Husain, MD of Fujifilm Pakistan Pvt. Ltd, from whom the equipment for the project will be procured, also spoke on this occasion. The company has offered a cordial cooperation for the project.

The Consulate General of Japan in Karachi hopes that this project will help to provide adequate health service to the needy and that they can have better facilities in the future. The Consulate General of Japan also wishes that this support from the people of Japan will further strengthen the friendly relationship between Japan and Pakistan.
Under the GGP scheme, Japan has funded about 360 projects in Pakistan since 1989.
