                                                            Orientation for JENESYS 2.0 Participants


        On February 7th, 2014 the Consulate-General of Japan at Karachi held the orientation for theJENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange
  for Students and Youths) Participants.  Mr. Akira Ouchi, the Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, emphasized in his speech that through
  JENESYS program, youths of Pakistan and Japan would foster and strengthen friendship from their firsthand experiences and take an important role
  in consolidating future-oriented bilateral relationship.


       JENESYS is a project launched by the Government of Japan from the standpoint of providing a sound foundation for strong solidarity within Asia,
  as well as developing friendly relations by promoting mutual understanding through youth exchange activities. Its first phase was implemented from

  2007 to 2012, and with its great success, the Government of Japan has decided to continue this youth exchange program, as the second phase,
  “JENESYS 2.0”.

       The launch of “JENESYS 2.0” was announced by the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe,on January 18, 2013, during his visit to Indonesia.
  The program aims to further invigorate youth exchanges between Japan and other countries from Asia and Ocean regions, including Pakistan.
  Under “JENESYS 2.0”, the Government of Japan aims to provide opportunities for approximately 30, 000 youths from the Asian and Oceanian
  regions to participate in related youth exchange programs.


       This year, the total of 75 participants from Pakistan, 70 High School and University students from Islamabad, Karachi and Quetta and 5
  supervisors are going to visit Japan in February 2014. It is expected that the participants to JENESYS 2.0 will further promote mutual understanding
  and friendship between Japan and Pakistan.
