JAPAN PROVIDES RS. 13 MILLION FOR THE PROJECT FOR THE DEPLOYMENT OF AMAN ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT AMBULANCES IN KARACHI, SINDH

 The Government of Japan extended a grant of US$120,120 (approximately Rs. 13 million) to Aman Health Care Services (AHCS) for
 "The Project for the Deployment of Aman Advanced Life Support Ambulances in Bin Qasim Town, Karachi, Sindh" under its Grant
 Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme.

 The grant contract was signed at the Japan Information and Culture Center of the Consulate-General of Japan at Karachi, between
 
Mr. Akira Ouchi, Consul-General of Japan, and Dr. Junaid Abdul Razzak, Executive Director of AHCS. Mr. Parvez Ghias, CEO of
 Indus Motor Company Limited was also present at the occasion.

 Two ambulances fully equipped with basic and advanced life-support equipment will be purchased under the grant in order to achieve
 the objective of providing efficient access to emergency services and save the lives of the people. 13 million Rupees are granted by the
 Consulate-General of Japan and 1.2 million Rupees are contributed by the Indus Motor Company Limited. This grant is the first case of
 public-private partnership between the Consulate-General of Japan and Indus Motors Company Limited.

 At the signing ceremony, Mr. Akira Ouchi sincerely hoped that this project would help save the lives of more people in Karachi. It is
 expected that the implementation of this project will improve the medical emergency services in Karachi. Mr. Ouchi also wished that
 this support from the people of Japan would further strengthen friendly relationship between Japan and Pakistan.

 Under the GGP scheme, Japan has funded more than 200 projects in Pakistan since 1989, and this is the tenth GGP project implemented
 by the Consulate-General of Japan at Karachi since 2009.
