  1. 1. Position: Cultural and Public Affairs Assistant

Consulate General of Japan in Karachi 


3. Key responsibilities include the followings but not limited to: 

Organize and coordinate cultural events such as film screenings, concerts, art exhibitions, Japanese language speech contests, etc. (conducting all logistical arrangements, including securing venues, serving as liaison with partner organizations, coordinating event publicity, etc.). 

Create and present cultural and informational programs for schools and other community organizations. 

● Manage and maintain Consulate’s official website and social media to ensure that content is regularly and consistently updated and posted with new information (articles, stories, events, pictures, audio, video, etc.). 

● Prepare press releases in English and Urdu, draft speech and talking points, and schedule appointments for diplomats. 

Manage Japanese Government sponsored educational, cultural and sports exchange programs in Pakistan starting from application/selection process to monitoring of post-graduation activities. 

● Carry out other logistical and administrative duties as assigned. 


4. Requirements: 

● University degree or higher 

(Preference will be given to the candidates with an experience of studying abroad) 

● High proficiency in both spoken and written English and Urdu is must. Excellent skills in English to Urdu translation and vice-versa. Japanese is not a must but preferable. (English and Urdu will be tested) 

● Excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 

● Adequate Knowledge and experience in creating and editing website/ video/ photo/ text 

● Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

Proficiency in computer programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) – knowledge of Adobe Photoshop will be an added advantage.  

● Experience in relevant fields 

Must be in good health 


5. Expected Start Date:  

Late January (subject to change depending on the progress of the procedure)
