Japanese Calendar Exhibition 2014
On January 20, 2014, the inauguration ceremony of the “Japanese Calendar Exhibition 2014” was held at the Japan Information and
Culture Center of the Consulate-General of Japan at Karachi, in collaboration with Pakistan Japan Cultural Association, Sindh (PJCA) and
Pakistan Japan Business Forum (PJBF). Her Excellency Sharmila Farooqui, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh and the Minister
for Culture was the chief guest at this inauguration ceremony .
Mr. Akira Ouchi, the Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, in his opening speech stated that through that Japanese Calendar Exhibition,
he hoped the viewers would appreciate the natural beauty and fascinating diversity of Japan as well as four distinct seasons well depicted
in the Japanese calendars. Mr. Ouchi also stated that the Japanese calendars represented the beautiful and sophisticated quality of the
Japanese printing technology.
At the exhibition, about 150 Japanese calendars of various features are displayed and they are categorized under specific themes such
as traditional and contemporary art, four seasons, cultural heritage, landscape, architecture and etc. The exhibition will be open from
January 21 to 25 to the general public from 10:00 to 16:00, at the Japan Information and Culture Center. After the Exhibition, the calendars
on display will be distributed to the viewers through a lucky draw.
