The Commemorative Reception for the “Karate Workshop 2017”
The Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, Mr. Toshikazu ISOMURA has hosted the Commemorative Reception for the “Karate Workshop 2017” on
February 15, 2017, at his residence with the presence of distinguished guests from culture and business communities. The reception welcomes
Mr. Katsutoshi SHIINA, a leading Karate player from Japan and the Japan Karate Association (JKA) official instructor, 7th Dan (The levels are divided
into “Kyu” and “Dan”, and the levels start from Kyu (10 to 1) to Dan (1 to 10)), commemorates the “Karate Workshop 2017” at the Japanese Information
and Culture Center of the Consulate General of Japan in Karachi held from February 14 to 16 in order to promote one of Japanese traditional martial sports “Karate”.
Karate is one of internationally recognized martial arts originating in Japan and becomes popular in Pakistan. Now it is believed that there are approximately
40,000 Karate players in Pakistan. Also Karate will be included in the Olympic event from the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020. In such a momentum, the
Commemorative Reception for the “Karate workshop 2017” will be a milestone to promote the recognition and feeling of closeness to Karate as a new Olympic
sport in Pakistan, and strengthen the cultural relationship between Japan and Pakistan.
The Consulate General of Japan consider it important to establish the further relationships between Japan and Pakistan in various fields. The Commemorative
Reception for the “Karate Workshop 2017” will contribute to development of our cultural ties through the Japanese traditional martial art “Karate” and enhancement
of cooperation in sport sector towards the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020.
