The Consulate General of Japan in Karachi hosted a send-off ceremony and orientation for a delegation of 15 university students and a supervisor under JENESYS

and 3 students from Balochistan along with a supervisor will depart for Japan on January 16, 2017. Under the theme of “telecommunication”, the members will
visit companies and institutes to study the Japanese technology and also have cultural experiences through site visits and home stay.
JENESYS is a youth program launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan with a view to promoting people-to-people exchanges and developing mutual
trust among people of Japan and participating countries by portraying accurate image of Japanese society, history, culture, politics and diplomatic relations.
Approximately 220 youths are expected to play an important role in this year’s project under SAARC priority areas.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Toshikazu Isomura, Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, emphasized the importance of such programs for promoting better mutual
understanding between the people of Japan and Pakistan. In his view, even in an age of digital connections, it is still important to experience a different culture,
communicate in a new language, and understand the institutions, traditions, and celebrations of other culture and society. Mr. Isomura hoped that through JENESYS
program, Pakistani youth will have more interests in Japan and contribute to strengthening friendly relations between Japan and Pakistan from their warm and memorable experiences in Japan.
