JAPANESE SUPPORTED THE EXPANSION OF THE HOPE SCHOOL COMPLETED WORTH US$ 72,922 IN KARACHI
The Government of Japan completed the project for expansion of Health Oriented Preventive Education Formal
School and Vocational Training Center at Korangi in Karachi, worth US$ 72,922 (approximately Rs. 6.5 million)
under the scheme of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), on 27th May, 2013.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the school in Karachi, with the presence of Mr. Masamichi Abe,
Acting Consul General of Japan and Dr. Mubina Agboatwalla, Chairperson of Health Oriented Preventive Education
Foundation (HOPE). The Grant has been utilized for the expansion of the second floor of the school so that it meets
the rapid rise in demand of enrolment and accommodates more admissions.
The Japanese government and the NGO had agreed and signed on this carefully selected health sector development
project on September 19th, 2012, and since then both parties have made endeavours to complete the project with
the purpose to provide low cost quality education to more children of Korangi area.
At the ceremony, Mr. Masamichi Abe, Acting Consul General, said that the Government of Japan strongly believes
that this support from the people of Japan in the essential field of development will strengthen the present amicable
relationship between Japan and Pakistan.He also wished that efforts would be made to bring life to newly built
classrooms and the implementation of this project would give hope to children who do not have an opportunity of education.
