Japanese Emperor’s 83rd Birthday Celebrated in Karachi
On December 6, 2016, the Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, Mr. Toshikazu Isomura hosted a grand reception to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty the
Emperor Akihito, who will be 83 years old on December 23, 2016. The event took place with the presence of the chief guest Mr. Ikramullah Khan Dharejo,
Sindh Provincial Minister for Cooperation, and was attended by parliamentarians, government officials, diplomats, business executives, and other prominent
figures from both Sindh and Balochistan. During the ceremony, Honorary Consul General of Japan in Quetta, Mr. Nadeem Shah who were recently honoured
with the “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon”, and Pakistani Architect, Ms. Yasmeen Lari, awarded with Fukuoka Asia Culture Award,
delivered short speeches about their achievements and expressed their gratitude to the Government of Japan.
In his speech, Consul-General Mr. Toshikazu Isomura, conveyed his best wishes for the Emperor, and introduced Japan’s aid assistances to have developed the
bilateral ties in social, cultural and economic sectors. Mr. Isomura emphasized his heartfelt commitment in further promoting economic relations, and vibrating
cultural and people-to-people exchange between Japan and Pakistan.
On this occasion, Consulate-General of Japan and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) co-organized “Japan Business Exhibition 2016”. There, 18
Japanese-related companies, opened their booths to display their products and services such as a variety of Japanese automobiles and advanced technology
products and etc. In addition, Japanese culture booth where staff in Anime and Manga costumes worked exhibited Japanese tradition with Japanese dolls and
toys and played several attractive short movies to introduce Japan’s nature, culture and society. The five Ikebana groups showcased beautiful flower arrangements
and the Pakistan Bonsai Society exhibited bonsai (Japanese art of growing a miniature tree in a container) around the venue, which offered a contrasting touch in
the event. The guests showed keen interests in the displays and appreciated their elegance and sophistication.
The chief guest, Mr, Ikramullah Khan Dharejo, Sindh Provincial Minister for Cooperation, congratulated His Majesty the Emperor Akihito on His Majesty’s birthday
and expressed sincere wishes for His Majesty’s good health and prosperity. Mr, Ikramullah Khan Dharejo also reiterated about the cordial and friendly relations
between Pakistan and Japan, and extended his deep appreciation concerning Japan’s aid assistances to Pakistan in various sectors and expressed his expectation
to cooperate together to develop Pakistan, especially including Sindh.
